Performance-based Standards (PbS) published a new issue brief this week, entitled “What Youths Say Matters: A Historical Look.”

Facilities and programs participating in PbS survey youths twice a year to hear from them about facility safety, culture, services and the quality of life they are experiencing. This issue brief looks at what youths have been saying over the past five years and some of the specific responses related to research.

Overall the data shows positive shifts in perceptions of overall experience, facility programming, fairness and safety, relationships with staff, connectedness with family and preparedness to return to the community.

For more information on what youths, staff and families say, see PbS’ issue brief resources.
