New Directors Seminar

This year the Council of Juvenile Correctional Administrators (CJCA)  New Directors Seminar will be presented in a three-part webinar series.

For the past 18 years, the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) funded CJCA to conduct the New Directors Seminar.   This year, due to lack of funding, CJCA will convene this seminar by webinar.

The Seminar, led by veteran directors, has been instrumental in promoting and facilitating the development of the leadership capabilities of new directors.  The New Directors Seminar has been a forum for the exchange of knowledge and philosophies of juvenile corrections’ planning and policy-making. Although we would prefer to have the New Directors Seminar in person, we are confident that the webinar will give you to opportunity to learn from your fellow directors and begin a productive relationship with CJCA that was founded 18years ago to promote leadership development among the CEOs of juvenile corrections throughout the country.

The New Directors Webinar also presents a unique opportunity for each director to be paired with a veteran director for an hour-long mentoring session between each webinar and after the last webinar. Additionally, we will convene the new directors in a special session during the Summer Meeting in Denver as a follow up to the webinar series.
