The Reform Begins: Juvenile delinquency, early intervention and prevention services reinvented

This Winter 2014 issue of the CHOICES for Families Newsletter, published by the Juvenile Assessment Center of Wayne County, Michigan highlights the daring reform of their juvenile justice system implemented in 1999. The reform's mission to "…treat each individual youth as a person in need of resources rather than as a societal disease that needs to be contained," is fulfilled by creating a network of community services and resources easily accessible to children and families in need. This report specifically unfolds the evolution of how the Juvenile Assessment Center (JAC) partnered with Wayne County to help in the reform and to be the gateway to all of these services.
